Transient Voltage Suppressors from CCI
Pass UL 497B Listed Requirements
Tempe, AZ--Circuit Components, Inc. (CCI), has been notified that
its SAB and SPU series of surge suppressors have recently passed
the UL 497B listed requirements for data communications and fire
alarm circuits.
Underwriters Laboratories, North Brook, IL, conducted the testing.
The devices tested were Series SAB and SPU data protectors, consisting
of daughter modules plugged into base modules. These hybrid-type
surge suppressors provide electronic filtering and add transient
suppression for the protection of I/O modules from all major manufacturers.
The SAB/SPU Series protects the AC, DC, contact output, current
output and signal input lines of I/O modules. They are used in data
transmission applications, telecommunications equipment, 4-20mA loops,
and general purpose applications.
The SPU surge protector is a hard-wired version that uses miniature
field screw terminals for the connection between the input and the
I/O equipment connection. The SAB differs from the SPU in that it
uses a latch connector for interconnections with Allen Bradley I/O
modules. This connector is identical to those used in the 1492-IFM
Series of interface modules.
Antonio Valles, CCI Director of Marketing, notes that surge protectors
carrying this low UL voltage breakdown rating (clamping voltage)
will protect electronic equipment against extremely fast transients
of up to 100 Volts per microsecond.
CCI offers a broad line of electrical suppression and filtering
devices, with a choice of over 200 models. The company provides the
most comprehensive line of transient suppression and filtering products
in the industry.
